Advanced Replay System to Feature in 2024 Women's T20 World Cup

 For the 2024 Women’s Twenty20 World Cup, which kicks off on October 3 in the UAE, smart replay systems will be introduced at ICC matches. The technology, which was previously used in Hundred and IPL 2024, is expected to enhance the accuracy of decision-making in the tournament.

According to the ICC, “each game features a minimum of 28 cameras, incorporating a variety of visual analytics. The Decision Review System (DRS) will also be available throughout the tournament, with the Hawk-Eye Smart Replay System enabling the TV umpire to instantly review multi-dimensional synchronized footage for decisions a it is true.

Under this arrangement, the two Hawkeye crews will work directly with the TV punch, eliminating the previous involvement of the TV broadcaster. This intuitive process allows the five TVs to produce a wealth of footage, including split shots from Hawkeye's eight high-speed cameras on the ground

For example, during a stumping review, a TV umpire might request split-screen footage from Hawkeye. If there is a noticeable difference between the ball and the batsman, the TV umpire will skip checking the UltraEdge behind the catch and go straight to side repeat play for stumping while the UltraEdge will be used when there is no obvious difference there only.

The smart replay system also has three visible images for stumping, combining side and front camera angles in one frame. This enhancement, with the high-speed capture of the Hawkeye cameras, capturing around 300 frames per second, ensures greater accuracy compared to a lower-speed stump cam capturing 50 frames per second of the s

 The BBC has visited the scene of an Israeli air strike that killed nine civilians, such as  kids, a pregnant lady and her unborn child in a village in southern Lebanon.
